MORE ABOUT OUR CLASSES
Modern
Our modern classes focus on developing strong, technical dancers by training in all the key kick, turn, and jump techniques, as well as choreography and combinations. Modern dance is a broad genre that includes Jazz, Show Dance, Musical Theatre, Contemporary, and Lyrical — all of which are woven into our class structure.

We proudly follow the S.A.B.O.D syllabus, established in 1935. This internationally recognised syllabus provides dancers with a rich, creative curriculum that offers a taste of multiple modern dance styles. S.A.B.O.D is also affiliated with IDO (International Dance Organisation), giving dancers the opportunity to qualify for National and Protea colours and compete internationally.

It is highly recommended that students attend two modern classes per week to participate in formal S.A.B.O.D exams. Dancers who attend only one class will not be eligible for exams but will still take part in studio assessments.
Acrobatics
Acrobatics is a dynamic dance form that fuses gymnastic elements with flexibility, strength, balance, and classical dance technique. Students develop skills such as handstands, chest stands, elbow stands, cartwheels, walkovers, and tumbling lines.

Acro is both physically demanding and rewarding, requiring excellent conditioning and control. We follow both the internationally recognised Acrobatic Arts and AFSA syllabi to ensure our dancers receive safe, structured, and comprehensive acro training.
Ballet
As the foundation of all dance forms, ballet teaches grace, poise, strength, and control — skills that benefit every aspiring dancer. Our students are trained in body alignment, barre work, centre floor technique, and movement across the floor.

We are a proud Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) registered studio. The RAD is one of the world’s most influential dance education organisations, established in 1920. Through this curriculum, we ensure that dancers gain proper technique and artistic refinement that supports their dance careers.
Dance Tumbling
Our Dance Tumbling classes focus on tumbling techniques specifically for dancers. These skills are integrated into other dance styles and taught in a safe, progressive format.

Intermediate Class Prerequisites:
Must comfortably perform: cartwheel, bend-over, back limber, backbend, and bridge recovery.
Focus: mastering side aerials, standing back handsprings, and other intermediate-level tumbling skills.

Advanced Class Prerequisites:
Must be able to do a side aerial and standing back handspring.
Focus: back tucks, back layouts, multiple back handsprings, and front/side aerial variations.
Tiny Tribe
Our Tiny Tribe program is tailored for 4-year-olds (turning 4 or 5 in their start year). This delightful class introduces age-appropriate dance techniques, creative movement, and dance terminology in a fun, imaginative environment.

Tiny Tribe is offered in both Ballet and Modern Dance formats, helping our youngest dancers fall in love with movement while learning important foundational skills.
Acro Sport
For students who show exceptional acro talent and dedication, we offer the opportunity to join our Acro Sport team. These athletes can earn North Gauteng colours and compete at Regionals and potentially Nationals.

It is strongly recommended that Acro Sport athletes attend both their sport class and regular acrobatics class weekly to maximise their development.

Please note: Acro Sport is not part of the studio’s year-end show or formal assessments/exams.
